Duane M. Johnson is a co-founder and Principal of Comstock Johnson Architects, Inc., and is currently serving as Vice President of the firm. He began his professional career in 1964 and held a variety of positions with local architectural firms that encompassed project management and design.
Once he became a licensed architect, Mr. Johnson largely worked on municipal and institutional projects. With this extensive background, he has provided expertise as CJA’s Project Coordinator for most religious, laboratory and institutional projects. The broad scope of his work includes program development, preliminary design, specifications and construction administration.
A partial list of long standing clients includes Jackson Properties, Inc., Novozymes Biotech, Catholic Diocese of Sacramento, Interland Development and Ramco, Inc.
Mr. Johnson’s ongoing commitment to the profession and community includes membership in the Construction Specification Institute, with service as past Chapter President member of the National Education Committee and currently serves on the Institute Board of Directors; Member of the American Institute of Architects; Past Chairman and current member of the Governmental Affairs Committee for the West Sacramento Chamber of Commerce, President of the Board of Directors for Milhous Children’s Services and Vice President of St. Francis Manor (Senior Housing), Advisory Board Member for Cosumnes River Community College, Architectural Program.
Mr. Johnson has passed the Construction Technologist Exam, sponsored by the Construction Specifications Institute. He has also completed the B.U.R.S.I. roofing systems course, sponsored by the Johns Manville Corporation, and attended Form/Reform (bi-annual workshops) for National Conference on Environment & Art for Catholic Worship.
