This Phase I, 191,000 s.f., one- and two-story structure on a 20-acre site, serves as a consolidated campus for Pride Industries' five basic divisions. These divisions include the corporate headquarters, electronic assembly, contract packaging, high bay warehousing and light manufacturing. The building’s overall design facilitates a corporate mission to provide counseling, training, and employment opportunities for workers with varying degrees of disability.
In response to existing lease terminations, CJA worked as part of a fast-track, design/build team. Primary project goals were to: 1) Design a building whose architecture could compete with surrounding high-tech neighbors, and thereby sustain employee morale and instill pride; 2) Accomplish a safe separation of vehicle traffic and disabled clients throughout the site; and 3) Respond to physical limitations of disabled clients.
The building is primarily painted, tilt-up concrete with high-performance glazing and slate-faced accent walls and floors at the main entry. The site master plan contains provisions to move the warehousing portion to an adjacent 50,000 s.f. building for future expansion of the manufacturing division, and to accommodate a 30,000 s.f. training center.
